Dragon Ball: XENOVERSE an up and coming Dragon Ball video game set to release sometime early 2015. The game was announced earlier this year, and since its announcement many details regarding the game have been revealed. However, there is still a lot we don’t know about this game, but from what we’ve seen so far this game could completely reboot the series. XENOVERSE has a huge hype train being created by Dimps, who is the company developing the game. In an interview with Dimps they are promising that their game will not disappoint like previous DBZ video game titles. Their confidence shows great promise that the fans might actually get a great DBZ game.
Dimps has issued “Network Test” on the Playstation 3 all over the world to test the games server in order to provide an excellent gaming experience upon the launch of the game. This is another smart move by Dimps because they are taking the proper steps to developing a good quality game. These test took place earlier this week and they provided huge amounts of information about the game. We got to see game play footage, character customization, the fighting system, super attacks, and even the online world they have created. There are also a lot of other details that we learned about before the release of the network test such as the story line, graphic style, and new characters.
The game play in XENOVERSE resembles the appearance of previous titles such as Raging Blast 2, Battle of Z, and even Tenkaichi 3. However, according to the various people that I have spoken to about this game they claim that it is very unique in terms of gamey play. The fighting system is one of a kind it is fun to pick up and play as a beginner but it takes extra time and training to master. The game play that we have seen so far is still in alpha stage so it is incomplete but the final game should be much better and be a lot of fun.
The fighting system is fairly in depth for this game so I am not going to break it down little by little instead I will provide a link that will take you to a video explaining the fighting system and I will provide images that reveal the controls and button options.
The game revolves around an online world that Dimps has created for players. The world is made up of a futuristic city called Toki Toki City. Here players can interact with each other go on missions and challenge each other to a fight. Players can also customize their character and buy new gear. This world is unlike anything we have seen in a Dragon Ball game on consoles and it is truly a step forward from what we have gotten in the past.
The story is also very unique for a Dragon Ball video game instead of playing through the same story we all know and love for the hundredth time players actually get to partake in the outcome of the DBZ story. In XENOVERSE Trunks, who is a Saiyan character from the original series makes a wish to the eternal dragon Shenron asking for a new hero that can save the world from evil time travelers that have been altering the original DBZ history. You get to play through the game as your own character leveling that character up and customizing them as you please. Then from there you can go online and test your skill against opponents from around the world.
WARNING CONTAINS OPINION:
So from what we have seen so far I believe XENOVERSE looks amazing I have spoken with many people who have played the game and I have hardly gotten any negative feedback. The graphics look great; the game play has a lot of combo variations; the character creation system is very in depth; and the online world looks like so much fun. Dimps has put a lot on the line by creating so much hype for this game because if this game fails fans will likely lose hope and stop buying DBZ games. I believe that this game will live up to that hype and a step in the right direction for the DBZ franchise.
